For loans without a promotional period, monthly payments start either 3 months after the loan is funded or 15 days after permission to operate (PTO) is confirmed, whichever comes first.
For loans with a promotional period, the promotional period begins when the first disbursement is made to the installer or equipment distributor. The monthly payments start after the promotional period ends, if the loan was not paid off during the promotional period.
Interest accrues on the funds actually disbursed, with the accrual beginning at the time of initial disbursement (loan start date).
Please refer to your loan agreement for information on re-amortizations, as they are product-specific. For additional assistance, contact our Mosaic Borrower support team by phone at (855) 746-5551 or by email at support@joinmosaic.com.
Within the three-day right to cancel period following signature of your loan documents, you can contact Mosaic to request cancellation. Mosaic does not charge you a fee to cancel your loan. However, your loan agreement with Mosaic is separate from the sales contract with your installation company. You would also need to consult with your installer/contractor on any fees they may charge for canceling your agreement with them.
You can make payments, manage autopay and check the status of your payments from your online portal. For additional assistance, contact our Mosaic Borrower support team by phone at (855) 746-5551 or by email at support@joinmosaic.com.
You can lower your interest rate by signing up for automatic payments (ACH). If you are set up on automatic payments already, you are receiving the lowest interest rate available for your current loan. Please note that if ACH is canceled, your interest rate and monthly payments will increase.
Once your loan has been processed, you can log into your account using the link on the For Homeowners page. From here you can use the menu on the left to click “Loan Details” to view and print your loan documents, or click “Manage Payments” to review billing statements.
You can pay off your loan at any time and you’ll only pay for the interest that has already accrued. Mosaic does not have any prepayment penalties.
You can log in to your online account on the For Homeowners page to view your loan balance and/or schedule a payment for the date of your choosing. You can also find a payoff amount. If you need a payoff demand letter or a payoff amount for a specific date of up to 10 days in the future, please email loanservicing@joinmosaic.com.
As with all other financial obligations in place when someone passes away, the loan obligation to Mosaic stays with the decedent’s estate and must be satisfied by the estate. The person responsible for satisfying these obligations is usually the executor or trustee of the estate. This person is identified in most wills and family trust agreements.
The first step is to provide Mosaic with a copy of the death certificate (to loanservicing@joinmosaic.com). Upon receipt, Mosaic will begin our probate process. This process usually consists of Mosaic making a claim for payment of the full outstanding loan balance. Once this is paid, Mosaic will release the security filing.
To request an amortization schedule for your loan, please email loanservicing@joinmosaic.com. Our teams will promptly send you the schedule.
Throughout the loan origination process, borrowers will need to:
- Obtain credit approval
- Sign their loan agreement document
- Complete the Mosaic Welcome Call
- And finally, confirm installation completion status
Contractors can walk you through this process. If you have any additional questions, contact our Mosaic Borrower Support team by phone at (855) 746-5551 or by email at support@joinmosaic.com.
In most cases, homeowner confirmation of install completion is required to finalize the loan. After your installation company reports that the work is complete, you will receive an email from Mosaic requesting acknowledgement that this is correct. You may also receive an email from Mosaic requesting confirmation that your solar system is operational. Please be sure to respond to all communications in a timely manner to make sure your loan is finalized.
The Mosaic loan start date is based on Mosaic’s first payment to the installation company or equipment distributor.
Your credit approval is valid for 60 days. You must sign your loan agreement within 60 days of receiving approval.
In the credit approval process, you’ll be asked for your individual gross annual income. Please be as accurate as possible. If Mosaic requires further verification, you will receive an email requesting proof of income through a W2, a pay stub or other applicable income documentation.
For CHOICE and PLUS solar loan products, you can apply with a co-applicant. You will have the option to add co-applicant information when completing the credit application. At least one applicant must be on the title of the property, both applicants must be 18 or older, and it is preferable that each applicant has a unique email address where they can receive important communications about their Mosaic loan.
For home improvement and ZERO loans, we do not accept co-applicants at this time.
ZERO loan not currently available.
You can re-apply for a loan after 30 days or another member of the household can apply. Applicants applying as individuals must be listed as owners of the property.
The solar equipment lien is a lien on the personal property consisting of the installed solar equipment only. The solar equipment serves as collateral for the repayment of the loan.
Mosaic's UCC-1 liens are recorded as a UCC-1 Financing Statement in the county records. This documents Mosaic's secured interest in the installed solar equipment, not the real property. Though the recording is in the county records, Mosaic does not place a lien on the real property. Please refer to your loan agreement for more information.
We can provide an agreement to assure your mortgage lender that our UCC-1 Filing relates to the personal property consisting of the equipment and not the real property at which the equipment is installed. This should help give your lender comfort that our UCC-1 Filing will not impact planned lien positions relative to the underlying real property.
Mosaic solar loans may be transferable if the remaining balance is $5,000 or more, and if the permission to operate (PTO) the system has been confirmed from the local utility company. Other conditions and requirements may apply. Please contact Mosaic Borrower Support by phone at (855) 746-5551 or by email at loanservicing@joinmosaic.com to speak with a loan servicing agent. Home Improvement loans are not transferable.
At this time, Mosaic does not offer refinancing.
Mosaic is unable to provide tax advice. We recommend that all of our borrowers consult a licensed tax professional to further assist you with the ITC tax credits.
The following are a couple of available resources that can help you better understand the tax credit:
If you qualify for and receive an ITC tax credit, you may choose to apply those funds to your Mosaic loan. You can log into your account on the For Homeowners page to manage your payments and apply your ITC tax credit to your balance, if you choose.
PTO stands for Permission to Operate. This status is granted by your local utility after the panels are installed and pass final inspection. PTO allows you to begin using the energy generated by your solar panels through interconnection to the power grid. This is important to allow you to start benefiting from clean energy and to finalize your Mosaic solar loan.
